Week of Prayer
2012 WEEK OF PRAYER & SERVICE
AUGUST 19-25
Do you believe that informed, united, prayer can alter the course of the lives of children? Do you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of at-risk children and youth in any part of the greater Houston area? You are invited to become a participating congregation in A Week of Prayer and Service for Children and Youth and to join others who share this passion at The Faith Summit (information & registration)!
Participating congregations receive a prayer guide that can also be downloaded here. The guide provides information about specific topics that impact children and youth in the city and it allows individuals and groups of people to pray in unity with others across the city around specific, identifiable needs of our children and youth. The guide will focus on 7 systemic issues facing children in the greater Houston area.
There is no need to go anywhere. Pray wherever you are! Pray in your prayer closet, at family devotion time, in small groups, at work, and in your congregation. Do so with the knowledge that your voice is being joined in informed, unified prayer by thousands of others across the area.
In addition to prayer, each congregation is asked to plan and implement at least one act of service to a local public school in your community. These acts of service are coordinated within your church at a time that you select.
