Definitions

  • member congregation: a fully autonomous, constituted congregation received into membership by the vote of the Association in business session
  • messengers:  the representatives of a qualified cooperating congregation appointed to attend the Quarterly Associational Meetings and conduct the business of the association
  • mission:  an unconstituted congregation formed under the sponsorship of a UBA member congregation and continuing under sponsorship for a generally extended period of time
  • new church: a congregation, either constituted or formed with intent to constitute,  in developmental stages and generally under three years old
  • sponsored new church:  a congregation operating in partnership with or under the sponsorship of a member congregation of UBA for the purpose of fulfilling the requirement to participate with UBA for 12 months prior to receiving full membership status and/or for the purpose of qualifying for financial resources at the state level
  • watchcare:  a one-year temporary status by which an autonomous, constituted congregation fulfills the requirement to participate with UBA for 12 months prior to receiving full membership status
