Charles Culpepper's account of incarcerated men being baptized in the group time at Pack Prison Unit in Navasota, where Charles and Bob are regular volunteers, is a grace-filled and amazing account of God at work in the lives of inmates as they carry others to the baptismal pool.  I wish we had photos, but of course we don't take photos in the prison.  You'll just have to close your eyes and imagine the beautiful scene described that evening.

Small Congregations: The Star Throwers

Pastor Ricky Moore & JImmy GomezA small red brick building sits tucked away in the neighborhood at a bend in the road. The roar of planes overhead regularly announces the proximity of Hobby Airport, but the people gathered inside to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Garden Villas Baptist Church have long ago become accustomed to this and do not even turn their heads. The sun shines brightly through bullet-proof stained glass windows in the worship center, placed there, according to former pastor William Jackson, as a result of a neighborhood shooting years ago that left a bullet hole in an outside wall. . .Garden Villas is a reminder that older, smaller congregations have a significant role to play in accomplishing the purposes of God. As I worshiped with them, I was deeply moved and encourged.

Oscar HallChaplain Oscar Hall provides a first hand account of the extreme poverty and dangerous conditions in which many Hondurans live. During the week, Hall and his mission team of six passed bodies lying in the street as they travelled to locations to set up dental services and provide an evangelistic message of hope in the community with the highest murder rate in the world, San Pedro Sula.
