MARCH 2017

Disaster Recovery Ministry: In March, David Scott, Directory of Texas Baptist Disaster Recovery BOUNCE Student Ministry, reports that 264 BOUNCERS completed work on 12 different ministry sites in the Houston and Waller County area over Spring Break. UBA is thankful that this ministry could bring focus to the needs in the Houston area.

Líderes Transformadores: UBA leadership development for Hispanic pastors and congregations continues as 77 pastors and leaders met at Trinity PInes for LT, LTC, and LTM.

Escuela Biblica de Vacaciones: Training for Vacation Bible School teachers and leaders was a great success as 88 teachers and workers explored the Spanish-language materials in preparation for summer.

Leadership Café with Josh Ellis continues to explore various perspectives of leadership with a look at Relational Leadership in March. If you missed that, you can view the video here.

The Leadership Cohort, facilitated by Josh Ellis, continues to provide a learning and network experience monthly for pastors.

FEBRUARY 2017

Mentoring Church Planters: UBA Staff continues to enlist Church Planters in mentoring experiences. Two church planters and two congregational leaders attended training on using the thematic chains of the Thompson Study Bible. Another Church Planter attended the TUMI Training Program in Wichita.

Freedom Weekends continue to impact the prison community and families.

Leadership Café with Josh Ellis, PhD in Leadership Studies, continues with Session 2 - The Romance of Leadership, exploring the dynamics between a leader and those who follow. Watch Video.

Keelan Cook: UBA welcomes Urban Missiologist to the UBA staff with a focus on urban church planting and revitalization strategies.

Missions Conclave provided a missions education experience for boys grades 1 - 12 with John Clayton, UBA Men's Ministry Coordinator.

Leading for a Lifetime: UBA Exec Tom Billings outlined reasons why pastors leave the ministry and provided helpful suggestions for managing stress and continuing in ministry for a lifetime. View video presentation.

JANUARY 2017

Super Week of Caring Home Repairs drew 60 volunteers who completed 14 of 21 identified projects. Read Gerald Davis' report here.

African-American Pastors Fellowship under the leadership of President Walter August of Bethel's Family Baptist Church started the year with a pastors retreat, attended by Rickie Bradshaw.

Leadership Initiatives are starting strong with Leadership Café 2017 scheduled for four session with Josh Ellis: Jan 17, Feb 21, Mar 21 & Apr 11. Session 1, Best Leadership Book You've Probably Never Read (Reframing Organizations: Artistry, Choice and Leadership). Watch Video.

Organic Church Planting & Discipleship Development continue with the School for Church Planters in the Wynne Unit in Huntsville. Sally Hinzie and Rickie Bradshaw travel monthly with other mentored volunteers to continue the ministry.

Freedom Weekend scheduled at Carol Vance Prison drew volunteers and inmates together.
