Unity in Our Diversity: Why LT Chuong Loves UBA

There are so many reasons to love our association of churches—but we’re obviously partial. Don’t just take our word for it, though. Here, L.T. Chuong explains why he loves the unified diversity and the supportive relationships he’s seen in the Union Baptist Association.

I love UBA because of Jesus. We have thousands and hundreds of members in UBA, and we are united in our faith in Christ. But we are not uniform in our expression of worship, and I've always like that—because I'm different. And every one of us is different.

Sometimes when you deal with a certain community, you think everybody thinks like you. But when you meet different people from UBA—when I meet all the staff members and all the members of UBA when we have our meetings—we get to [do as] the Bible says, "iron shrapens iron."

We get to meet people of different cultures yet we are united in our faith in Jesus. Where else would we go that we can hold each other's hand and win this community for the Lord?

The relationships. Our relationships with one another. Recently, I got a letter from a pastor I had never met. He wrote this letter to me saying, “Pastor, I was introduced to you from one of the members of UBA , and we just want to bless you and tell you someone appreciates and loves you.”

I thought, “Man, I don't even know this gentleman, and he just gave my family this wonderful gift!” These relationships and this love [are] because of Christ!

It's not about US, but it's about WE. When WE can come together, we are better. When WE can come together, we are stronger. When WE can come together, we can cover this city in the love of Christ's grace and do things ONE of us cannot do.

One church can't do it all. One church can't win it all. One church cannot help all of the needs of our community. But together, we are better.

How can we help you get connected with our network of churches ministering together, supporting one another, and encouraging each other in gospel ministry? Feel free to contact any of our staff to let us know.
