Welcoming New Staff Members!

UBA is excited to introduce you to the five new staff members who have joined the team within the last couple of months! The addition of two administrative staff and three African-American church consultants will be valuable as UBA seeks to assist churches in their work.

On the administrative side, Briana Perea and Alba Coronel are providing some much needed assistance to the senior staff members. Lawrence Scott, Bryant Lee, and Mike Pender have joined the staff as African-American church consultants.

Briana

Briana Perea’s role consists of two main parts: data management and church records, and supporting Dana Bowdoin in the financial office. Briana is excited to join such a warm and welcoming team. She is looking forward to building relationships with the rest of the team and growing in her new position through learning new skills and overcoming challenges. She is excited to provide administrative help to the UBA as they help churches meet needs in Houston.

Briana is a Houston native. She grew up near Hobby airport and has primarily lived on the southeast side of Houston. She has been married to Manuel for eight years and they have one son, Asher, who is four years old. She has been attending Ecclesia Clear Lake for the last six years, where she volunteers with the kid’s ministry. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, spending time outdoors, and working in her container garden on her balcony. She also plays the violin and baritone ukulele, despite (in her words) having a terrible sense of rhythm!

Alba

Alba Coronel is the new administrative assistant for hispanic ministries at UBA. Her areas of responsibility include communications, event management, and general support for Spanish-speaking congregations. As a pastor’s kid, she is excited to be involved in helping Hispanic churches around Houston, as well as helping the UBA team in any way possible. She hopes to be able to use her experience working in children’s ministry.

Alba is also a Houston native, and her family is originally from Monterrey, Mexico. Her father is a pastor at Iglesia Bautista Resurreccion in Jacinto City. They have been at that church for 17 years. Alba is a Co-Children’s Church Director and plans year round events for the children at her church, including Vacation Bible School and field trips. Growing up, Alba attended GAs and Acteens at Tallowood Baptist Church. She is thankful for the role Tallowood played in her spiritual growth, including giving her a heart for missions. In her free time, Alba enjoys playing the flute.

African American Ministry Team
