Los grandes eventos siempre tienen un antes y un después, o sea que provocan un cambio. En estos días, del COVID-19, algunos están tratando de reinventar sus negocios; y la tremenda desaceleración que está sufriendo la economía obligará a muchos a cambiar de trabajo, de ciudad, o de profesión. Cambio, cambio, cambio es el nuevo ritmo acelerado del mundo.
Cuando hay cambio, la mente de la gente se abre para explorar territorios que antes no le interesaban. Por consiguiente, la apertura de mente que la gente está experimentando es una oportunidad doble. Por un lado, para renovar la iglesia y por el otro para proclamar el evangelio. Admitiendo que es más fácil hablar que actuar, le comparto tres ideas para aprovechar el cambio en que estamos entrando.
1. Mire hacia adentro de usted mismo.
En estos días parece que todo el mundo está mirando hacia afuera, las noticias, los comunicados, los protocolos para evitar el contagio, las teorías de conspiración, las críticas al gobierno, y los videos de entretenimiento.
Sin embargo, como no podemos llevar a la gente más allá de donde nosotros estamos, es necesario que comencemos por nosotros mismos, mirando hacia nuestro interior, explorando de adentro para afuera, buscando como reinventarse. Este punto es el más importante de todos y siempre tenemos la tentación a ignorarlo, o hacerlo a medias.
En lugar de pensar en como volver a la normalidad que existía antes del COVID-19, debemos morir al pasado y renacer a través de esta crisis al nuevo mundo que esta surgiendo y que ciertamente no va a ser mejor que el anterior, pero nosotros si podemos cambiar para inspirar el cambio a nuestro alrededor.
2. Mire a su iglesia.
Simplifique su ministerio y su iglesia. Recuerdo haber leído que la razón por la cual los números telefónicos tienen siete dígitos (después del indicativo) es porque después de siete, la capacidad de retención cae dramáticamente. Por lo tanto, una iglesia con siete enfoques ya se metió en el enredo de la complejidad.
La vida y el Ministerio de Jesús fueron muy simples y la iglesia del primer siglo también lo era, pero a través de los siglos la hemos venido haciendo más complicada. Albert Einstein dijo que cualquier tonto inteligente podía diseñar cosas complicadas, pero que se requería un poco de ingenio para ir en la dirección contraria. Como la vida y el ministerio de Jesús fueron muy simples, deberíamos tratar de simplificar nuestras vidas y ministerios.
En realidad, no necesitamos ingenio para simplificar la iglesia. Lo que tenemos que hacer es releer cuidadosamente los pasajes del Nuevo Testamento que hablan de ella y preguntarnos qué clase de iglesia quiere el Señor que seamos. Las respuestas nos darán una idea clara de una iglesia más simple.
Tal vez no vamos a ser tan simples como Jesús, pero podemos comenzar a caminar por el sendero de la simplicidad, de esa manera nos despojaremos del peso que nos impide cumplir la Gran Comisión. Esta es una oportunidad para dejar de negociar con el sistema y simplificar nuestra vida y la iglesia. Como dicen en inglés “Keep it simple” Manténgalo simple.
3. Mire como exaltar a Cristo en todo.
Primero quiero aclarar que la adoración a Cristo debe trascender lo que hacemos los domingos. Romanos 12:1 dice: “así que, hermanos, os ruego por las misericordias de Dios, que presentéis vuestros cuerpos en sacrificio vivo, santo, agradable a Dios, que es vuestro culto racional.”
Culto racional es la traducción de las palabras griegas LOGIKÉN LATREÍAN que significa adoración lógica. La adoración lógica o racional la realizamos de lunes a viernes, fuera del templo, al presentar nuestros cuerpos en sacrificio vivo.
Jesús dijo que cuando fuere levantado de la tierra, atraería a todos a El mismo, Juan 12:32. Nosotros nos complicamos buscando como traer las personas a Cristo exaltando el edificio, los eventos, o los programas.
El resultado de este enfoque es gente que busca quien los entretenga, pero cuando Cristo es levantado, la gente lo ve y se siente atraída hacia Él, y el resultado son personas que de verdad quieren seguir a Cristo.
¿Cómo podemos levantar a Cristo? A nivel personal, confesando su señorío sobre nuestra vida, con nuestra boca y una vida acorde con sus enseñanzas. O como ya dije, presentando nuestros cuerpos en sacrificio vivo a Dios.
A nivel congregacional, exaltamos a Cristo planeando nuestros cultos para ese propósito, considerándole siempre como el huésped de honor, relacionando nuestros mensajes con Él, invitando a la gente a confiar en Él y a ser como Él.
Muy importante tener en cuenta que no toda la gente abre su mente de la misma manera, unos se abren un poco y con reservas, otros se arriesgan un poco más, algunos se abren totalmente y siempre habrá los que no van a cambiar. ¿Qué tan dispuesto está usted a abrirse a explorar nuevos territorios?

THREE IDEAS FOR CHANGE
Big events always have a before and after, that is, they cause a change. These days, thanks to COVID-19, some are trying to reinvent their businesses. And the tremendous slowdown in the economy will force many to change jobs, cities, or professions. Change, change, change is the new fast pace of the world.
When there is change, people's minds open up to explore territories they were not interested in before. Therefore, the open-mindedness that people are experiencing is a double opportunity. On the one hand, to renew the church and on the other, to proclaim the gospel. To get a better idea of what this means, here are three ideas to take advantage of the change we are entering.
1. Look inside yourself
These days it seems that everyone is looking out for the latest news, the releases, the protocols to avoid contagion, conspiracy theories, criticism of the government, and videos just for entertainment.
However, since we cannot take people beyond where we are, we need to start with ourselves—looking inward, exploring from the inside out, looking for ways to reinvent ourselves. This point is the most important of all, and we are always tempted to ignore it or do it half-heartedly.
Instead of thinking about how to return to the normality that existed before COVID-19, we must die to the past and be reborn through this crisis to the new world that is emerging. That certainly will not be better than the previous one, but we do we can change to inspire change around us.
2. Look at your church.
Simplify your ministry and your church. I remember reading that the reason phone numbers have seven digits (after the callsign) is that, after seven, the holding capacity drops dramatically. Thus, a church with seven focuses has already gotten itself into a mess of complexity.
Jesus' life and ministry were very simple, and the first-century church was also very simple. through the centuries, though, we have made it more complicated. Albert Einstein said that any clever fool could design complicated things, but it takes a little ingenuity to go in the opposite direction. Since Jesus' life and ministry were so simple, we should try to simplify our lives and ministries.
We don't really need ingenuity to simplify the church. What we have to do is carefully reread the New Testament passages that speak of the church, and ask ourselves what kind of church the Lord wants us to be. The answers will give us a clear idea of a simpler church.
Maybe we are not going to be as simple as Jesus, but we can start walking on the path of simplicity, in this way, we will shed the weight that prevents us from fulfilling the Great Commission. This is an opportunity to stop negotiating with the system and simplify our life and church. Keep it simple.
3. Look how to exalt Christ in everything.
First, I want to clarify that our worship of Christ must transcend what we do on Sundays. Romans 12: 1 says: "So, brothers, I beg you by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing to God, which is your rational worship."
Rational worship is the translation of the Greek words LOGIKÉN LATREÍAN which means “logical worship.” We carry out logical or rational worship from Monday to Friday, outside the temple, presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice.
Jesus said that when he was raised up from the earth, he would draw everyone to himself. (John 12:32) We get complicated looking for how to bring people to Christ by exalting the building, the events, or the programs. The result of this approach is people who seek to entertain them. But when Christ is raised up, people see him and are drawn to him. This will result in people who really want to follow Christ.
How can we raise Christ up? On a personal level, we should be confessing his lordship over our lives—with our mouth and a life consistent with his teachings. Or as I said, presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice to God.
At the congregational level, we exalt Christ by planning our services for that purpose—always considering Him as the guest of honor, relating our messages to Him, inviting people to trust Him and to be like Him.
It is very important to keep in mind that not all people open their minds in the same way. Some open a little and with reservations. Others risk a little more. Still others open completely, and there will always be those who will not change. How willing are you to open yourself up to explore new possibilities?
