1 Easy Tool to Help Your Church to Share the Gospel Cross-Culturally

If you’ve spent any time looking at demographics in Greater Houston, you know our city has become a global mission field. As people from all nations make Houston their home, Christians have an opportunity (and a responsibility) to share the good news of Jesus with our neighbors from around the world.

However, the average church member often hesitates for fear of making cultural blunders or not knowing what to say. They may have a heart for missions but often lack the practical tools and experience to step out in confidence.

So, I set out to make simple tools readily available to everyone. After testing this content with members of my own church, I developed it into an 8-week curriculum that is freely available for your church to print, download, and use in your context.

If we want to reach those God has brought near, we need everyday church members equipped and confident to go into their neighborhoods, offices, and communities.

Moving From 0 to 1 on Mission

This material isn't an intimidating, hyper-academic course designed to turn you into a missiologist overnight. Instead, Who’s My Neighbor? is a low-pressure, "0-to-1" missions curriculum made for the ordinary church member.

The goal is for participants to leave each weekly session equipped with just one tangible skill or concept to practice in their normal routines.

Here are a few of the practical rhythms your group will practice:

  • "Grocery Store” Prayers: Turning everyday routines into intentional moments of prayer for the people passing you by.

  • The BLESS strategy: A simple acrostic to help you enter and evangelize within new contexts.

    • Begin in prayer

    • Listen

    • Eat Together

    • Serve

    • Share your story and God’s big story

  • The 5 Fs of Culture: A simple framework to help you learn about someone’s culture and what matters to them.

  • The 3D/4D Gospel Framework: Understanding how the unchanging story of Scripture addresses distinct cultural longings, such as guilt, fear, shame, or isolation.

The point of this curriculum is to shift church cultures from a mere passive "come and see" mentality to a confident, Spirit-led "go and tell" lifestyle that every church member can embrace.
