3 Easy Ways to Serve the Hungry
Hunger is an issue that impacts many across the globe. As followers of Christ, we are committed to following Jesus’ example in meeting both the physical and spiritual needs of those in our reach.
By praying, raising awareness, and giving, your church can make an impact for those who need it most. Here’s how.
1. Pray:
Starting August 1, believers across the country will unite in daily prayer for those impacted by hunger. Of course, your church is welcome to pray the guide throughout the year, but this united prayer effort will lead directly into Global Hunger Sunday on August 24.
This digital prayer guide helps engage in 31 days of prayer for physical and spiritual nourishment. Share the prayer guide with your congregation and encourage participation in daily prayer for gospel-centered hunger solutions around the world.
2. Host Global Hunger Sunday
On August 24, churches around the nation will join in observing Global Hunger Sunday. Send Relief has made it easy by supplying free resources to your church.
From prayer guides and leader tools to bulletin inserts, videos, social graphics, and even coloring pages for kids, their toolkit equips your entire church to pray, promote, and participate.
3. Serve:
Gifts on Global Hunger Sunday and throughout the year provide food, aid, and the hope of Christ to communities in need around the globe.
But you can also serve more locally through local organizations like the Mission Centers of Houston, which seeks to change lives with the love, mercy, and grace of Jesus Christ, by providing for the needs of people living in Houston’s inner city. Giving and volunteering with Mission Centers of Houston is a great way to fight against hunger and they cycles of poverty in our own backyard.
How is your church involved in praying, giving, and serving together? Email us at info@ubahouston.org to let us know! We love hearing and celebrating stories of God’s work throughout the association.
Podemos tener estilos distintos, estructuras diferentes, pero cuando nuestros valores centrales —el evangelio, la humildad, la gracia, la misión— están alineados, hay un terreno fértil para caminar juntos con gozo y libertad.
