Si usted vive en Texas, el mes de febrero experimentó de alguna manera la “gran Helada.” Por casi una semana, experimentamos temperaturas tan bajas que rompieron los récords de más de 100 años. Algunos la pasamos sin calefacción, sin agua y lo peor de esta situación fue la pérdida de energía eléctrica para la mayoría de los residentes de todo el estado. Algunos de nosotros perdimos la energía eléctrica por más de 3 días.
Tengo que admitir que no le di mucha importancia a los avisos y a la verdad no me prepare adecuadamente. Cuando perdimos la energía eléctrica lo único que teníamos era algunas velas, una lámpara de queroseno y una pequeña linterna que alguien me había regalado unas semanas antes. La primera noche fue muy interesante, acostados en la cama con 3 cobijas, vestidos como si estuviéramos en Alaska y pensar salir de nuestro albergue temporal era una aventura ya que en la noche la oscuridad era extrema, ¡no se veía absolutamente nada!
“Descubrí que no importa que tan pequeña sea tu luz, en la oscuridad, alumbra TODO.”
Fue esa primera noche que note algo muy peculiar acerca de la luz y las tinieblas. En el sermón del monte en Mateo 5:14-15, Jesús dice:
“Ustedes son la luz del mundo. Una ciudad en lo alto de una colina no puede esconderse. se enciende una lámpara para cubrirla con un cajón. Por el contrario, se pone en la repisa para que alumbre a todos los que están en la casa.”
Cuando uno lee este pasaje se pregunta; ¿Cómo una pequeña luz, en una repisa puede alumbrar a todos en la casa?
“Entre más densa sea esa oscuridad, más alumbra tu pequeña luz.”
Esa primera noche de la “gran Helada” descubrí lo poderoso de la verdad que Jesús está enseñando en este pasaje. En la primera noche de extrema oscuridad cuando me levanté para ir al baño, tome la pequeña linterna, que en la tarde apenas se podía discernir por la luz del día. Pero en la densa oscuridad de la noche, esa pequeña luz alumbraba todo el cuarto.
Descubrí que no importa que tan pequeña sea tu luz, en la oscuridad, alumbra TODO. Entre más densa sea esa oscuridad, más alumbra tu pequeña luz.
Tendemos a comparar nuestra luz con la de otros que consideramos son super luz, pero no es lo que dice Jesús. Lo que Él está diciendo, es que no esconda tu luz. No te dejes intimidar, ni menospreciar por nadie. ¡deja que tu luz BRILLE!, no importa cuán pequeña sea esa luz en estos momentos déjala que BRILLE.
This Little Light of Mine

If you live in Texas, you know the month of February brought about the "big freeze." For almost a week, we experienced temperatures so low that they broke 100-year records. Some of us went without heat and without water, but the worst thing about this situation was the loss of electrical power for the majority of residents across the state. Some of us lost power for more than 3 days.
I have to admit that I didn't pay much attention to the notices and didn't really prepare properly. When we lost power, all we had was some candles, a kerosene lamp, and a small flashlight that someone had given me a few weeks earlier. The first night was very interesting, lying in bed with 3 blankets, dressed as if we were in Alaska and thinking of leaving our temporary shelter was an adventure. At night, the darkness was so extreme that we couldn't see anything!
It was that first night that I noticed something very peculiar about light and darkness. In the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:14-15, Jesus says:
"You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill cannot be hidden. a lamp is lit to cover it with a drawer. On the contrary, he stands on the shelf to illuminate everyone in the house."
When I read this passage, I wonder, “How can a small light on a ledge illuminate everyone in the house?"
“The denser that darkness, the more your small light illuminates. ”
That first night of the "great freeze," I discovered the powerful truth that Jesus is teaching in this passage. On the first night of extreme darkness when I got up to go to the bathroom, I took the small flashlight, which in the afternoon could barely be discerned in the daylight. In the dense darkness of the night, however, that small light illuminated the whole room.
I discovered that no matter how small your light is, in the dark, it illuminates EVERYTHING. The denser that darkness, the more your small light illuminates.
We tend to compare our light with that of others that we consider to be "super light,” but that is not what Jesus says. What He is saying is to not hide your light. You cannot let yourself be intimidated or belittled by anyone. Let your light SHINE! No matter how small you think that light is right now, let it SHINE.
En un mundo donde los pastores enfrentan desafíos emocionales, presiones ministeriales y cuestionamientos de fe, el acto de cuidarse a sí mismos no es un signo de debilidad, sino un testimonio poderoso de humildad y sabiduría.
